Fiber backbone
Building backbone
Typical backbone scope: protected fibre between rooms or floors, terminated, tested per core, and labelled for future work.
Typical fibre backbone work between floors or equipment rooms. This page explains the usual scope for quotation, not a named-client job record. Route protection, termination method, and labelling are agreed before pulling cable. The deliverable is a working backbone with documents the next team can trust.
Requirements
Copper is not enough between distant rooms. The route has to be protected, spare cores should be planned, and each core has to be identifiable after handover.
Solution
Pull single-mode or multimode fiber to the design, splice or terminate, label the panel, and keep the test result for each core. Active versus spare cores are marked so later expansion is simple.
